New book published yesterday on Amazon. The House of Fortune took me eight years to write. Single Man Dancing Alone took me two years. I began writing it in Sweden in November 2019. Then the pandemic and lockdown came along. For the next eighteen months I did nothing but paint, walk and write.
The first book followed the Al Bahr family from their hard life on the northeast coast of Qatar in the 1920s to relative prosperity in the 1970s. In the second book a young English teacher arrives in Qatar and meets the family. Based on my own experiences of living there we see how the country develops and the family grows richer. It's semi-autobiographical - a roman à clef if you will. I thoroughly enjoyed writing the account of the life and times from the seventies up until the present day.
